Resources and Checklists
Printable checklists and quick-reference material to make everyday dog care a little easier.
In addition to our articles, we offer these simple checklists as quick-reference material. Use your browser’s print option for a paper copy — headers and footers are hidden when printing, so the checklists come out clean.
Daily Care Checklist
- Fresh water available, bowl clean and topped up
- Meals at the usual times, sensible portions
- Morning walk or potty break, plus a proper walk later
- Some play, some training, some quiet time
- Quick brush and a glance at paws, ears, and skin
- Evening wind-down: last potty break, settled sleeping spot
- Weekly extras: bedding wash, gear check, nail and coat check
Anything that looks or feels off — appetite, energy, skin, or behavior — is a question for your veterinarian.
New Dog Supplies Checklist
- Food and water bowls (easy to clean, hard to tip)
- Collar with an ID tag carrying your phone number
- Leash, standard length for everyday walks
- Harness, if you prefer one for walks
- Bed with a washable cover
- Crate sized so your dog can stand, turn, and stretch
- Brush suited to your dog’s coat type
- Dog-friendly shampoo for occasional baths
- Nail clippers (and a plan to ask a pro for help if needed)
- Waste bags for walks
- A few safe toys, plus small treats for training
No brand is the right brand for every dog — fit, safety, and comfort matter more than labels. Your veterinarian can help you round out the list for your particular dog.
